Saint-Gobain Breaks Ground on National Distribution Center in Fairfield, CA

Saint-Gobain Containers, Inc., a leading producer of glass packaging for the food and beverage industry, announced today they have broken ground on a 1,020,000 square-foot distribution center in Fairfield, Calif. The center will serve the bottling and distribution needs of the California container markets. The state-of-the-art facility will be located northwest of the intersection of Peabody Road and Air Base Parkway at 2600 Stanford Court in Fairfield.

“This new facility further demonstrates our strong commitment to our California wine market customers, and will enable us to enhance our customer service and distribution in this important market segment,” said John Haack, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, for Saint-Gobain Containers.

Saint-Gobain selected Lauth Construction as the general contractor for the distribution center. The new facility will have a clear height of 32 feet with 64 docks set up in a cross dock configuration. The building will be 1,700 feet long by 600 feet wide and will also include a 10,000 square-foot office.

“The improved technology and systems going into this state-of-the-art facility will provide a strategic platform that is unique in its type and magnitude within the American glass container industry,” said David Bolander, Saint-Gobain Containers’ Vice President, Product Planning. “We’ve enjoyed an excellent 10-year relationship with the City of Fairfield and the surrounding communities, and we look forward to better serving our customers from this new location for many years.”
